Funding Proposal: Full-Time Core Development — MrBlue

You're already using his work

The platform you're reading this on — the forum, the funding goals, the on-chain settlement you'll see when this goal pays out — was built by one developer: MrBlue (github.com/thewayofdev).

When Presearch shut down in July, nobody handed this community a roadmap, a budget, or a team. MrBlue built precommunity.org so we'd have a place to organize, vote, and fund what comes next — with community decisions off-chain and funding proof on Base. He shipped it, solo, while working on his own time.

This proposal asks the community to fund him to do it full-time.

A note on the pseudonym: MrBlue works under a fresh identity created for this project — a deliberate privacy choice, and a common one among builders in this space. His track record isn't a résumé or an old GitHub graph; it's the working platform you're using right now, with the code published openly under this account for anyone to inspect.

What this funds to start

Three workstreams, in order of priority:

1. The community platform (precommunity.org). Ongoing development of the tools we're using right now — funding goals, governance, the forum, the keyword market. This is the infrastructure everything else coordinates through.

2. A PRE-powered ad API. An API-based ad platform designed to plug into the new decentralized search engine — and any other property that adopts it. This is the beginning of an answer to the question every revival effort has to face: how does this sustain itself? Keyword staking and advertising denominated in PRE gives the token real utility and gives the ecosystem a revenue model that doesn't depend on donations forever.

3. Hardening prototypes into production. Community members have built impressive proofs of concept at remarkable speed. MrBlue's role is to take promising prototypes and make them secure, scalable, and production-ready — the careful engineering work of auditing, restructuring, and stress-testing that turns a demo into something thousands of people can rely on. Fast prototyping and rigorous production engineering are different skills, and this effort needs both. (A separate funding proposal for prototype development will follow — the two roles are designed to work together.)

Why full-time, and why now

Right now, every hour MrBlue spends on this project competes with the work that pays his bills. The platform exists because he chose to build it anyway. But an ad platform, a hardened base layer, and continuous platform development is not just nights-and-weekends work — it's a full-time job, and the window to establish momentum is now, while the community is organized and motivated.

$2,000/month is a deliberately lean ask for a full-time senior developer. This is not market rate — it's a commitment level that lets him prioritize this project while the ecosystem gets on its feet.

How you're protected

This community has learned the hard way what happens when funds and control are concentrated and opaque. This goal is structured to be the opposite:

  • Payouts go through the community Safe — a 2-of-3 multisig. No single person can move funds.
  • Settlement is on-chain and monthly. Every payout is publicly verifiable on Base.
  • All code is open source. You can watch the commits land.
  • Monthly progress updates. A short public dev log on this forum every month: what shipped, what's next, with links to the work.
  • You can stop any time. This is a monthly goal, not a lump sum. If the community isn't happy with the output, contributions simply stop. Funding is re-earned every single month.
  • A defined review point. After 3 months, we assess openly: what got built, whether to continue, and whether the target should change.

Surplus policy: contributions above the 2,000 USDC monthly target are paid out to MrBlue along with the rest of the period balance — treat anything over target as direct recognition of over-delivery.

100% developer time. This goal is part of the Core Development subproject and funds one thing: MrBlue's time. Operating costs — hosting, AI development credits, domains — are funded separately and transparently through the Infrastructure & Operations goal, so nothing contributed here is absorbed by overhead.

What contributors receive

Beyond moving the project forward: contributions are recorded on-chain, factor into governance credibility and voting weight, and contributors are credited (name and link) on the contribution record. This is fundamentally a voluntary, community-driven effort — you're funding it because you want it to exist.

How to contribute

Contribute USDC on Base directly through the goal page: [link to goal]

If you hold PRE but not USDC, or want help getting set up on Base, post below or ask in the community Telegram and someone will walk you through it.
